Charleston Tree Solutions provides tree removal for dead, dying, diseased, leaning, and hazardous trees, from small and multiple tree removal to large tree removal over a house, using sectional dismantling, rope rigging, and bucket truck methods for tight-access jobs. In the past 3 years alone, we’ve serviced over 100 homes in South of Broad, The French Quarter, and Radcliffeborough. A thorough site review precedes every job. In our opinion, crane-assisted removal works best for large live oaks over a house.

Our tree trimming and pruning services keep Charleston properties safe through hurricane season, which runs June through November, with hurricane preparation tree trimming, deadwood removal, and hazardous branch pruning. Services include tree trimming away from roof, tree clearance from house, tree pruning over driveway, tree trimming near fence, crown thinning, crown reduction pruning, and overextended limb reduction. We also handle storm damage tree pruning and broken branch pruning, plus young tree training, structural tree pruning, and natural-form pruning.
We provide tree stump grinding and stump removal, from deep and below-grade stump grinding to stump excavation and root ball excavation, matched to your yard’s access and soil. Our crew handles surface root removal, selective root chasing, stump grinding removal, and stump removal site restoration with clean fill, backfill, wood chips, or topsoil. Team lead Brandon and the crew are regulars in Charleston neighborhoods, making stump removal for driveway or fence installation simple.

Our 24/7 emergency tree service handles storm damage tree removal across Charleston, where low-lying ground between the Ashley and Cooper rivers can stay saturated after heavy rain, making uprooted trees a common call. We respond to fallen tree on house removal, tree on roof removal, tree blocking driveway removal, split trees, and hanging limb removal, using emergency stabilization and sectional removal. We handle hurricane tree cleanup and tropical storm tree cleanup. Day or night, Charleston Tree Solutions is just a phone call away.
Live oaks are part of what makes Charleston, Charleston, and the salty, humid coastal air can be tough on them. That’s why our live oak trimming focuses on looking after mature oaks, from deadwood removal and canopy thinning to lifting limbs off your roof. When heavy limbs need attention, we use structural pruning and crown reduction to ease the load. And if a tree can’t be saved, we’ll handle live oak removal.

Palmettos are all over the Lowcountry, especially on Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, and Folly Beach, where we’ve regularly served residents. Our palm tree trimming covers palmetto trimming and sabal palm pruning, including palm frond removal and brown frond removal done with terminal bud protection, since that’s where a palm grows. We use high-palm climbing for tall palm trimming. We also handle palm storm cleanup, palm tree removal, and palmetto removal when needed.

Charleston Tree Solutions provides commercial tree removal for HOAs, multifamily communities, campuses, hotels, offices, retail centers, and industrial sites, from large, hazardous, dead, and diseased trees to multiple tree removal and tree removal for new construction at development sites. Sectional dismantling, controlled lowering, and rope rigging keep entrances, parking areas, and access routes clear, with bucket truck, aerial lift, or crane-assisted removal for limited-access jobs. Take a look at Middleton Place, which we served in 2023, to see proof of our work.

Our 24/7 emergency tree service keeps commercial properties open when storms hit. After July’s severe storms downed trees across Charleston, we handled emergency tree removal and storm debris removal at the College of Charleston, using rapid stabilization and sectional removal to restore campus entrances, parking lots, and access routes. Whether it’s a fallen tree, a hanging limb, or commercial storm tree cleanup for hospitality sites, we protect tenant access and customer access and get your property safely back in business.

When a wooded lot or overgrown acreage gets out of hand, our crew gets it back under control with forestry mulching. From brush and understory clearing to invasive woody vegetation removal, we use in-place mulching and in-place grinding to turn small trees and brush into mulch right where they stand. We’ve worked with Wentworth Mansion and Charleston Country Club, and we also handle selective land clearing, trail and access path clearing, and commercial land clearing for development parcels

Charleston Tree Solutions’ team are experts in commercial tree trimming, providing tree pruning that keeps parking lot, sidewalk, roadway, and streetscape clearance safe and open. Our knowledgeable team, specifically Sam, who has 15 years of hands-on experience and regularly services Drayton Hall, handles deadwood removal, hazardous branch pruning, crown raising, canopy lifting, crown thinning, and structural pruning. For tall jobs, we use aerial lift pruning and climber and rigging work around buildings, signs, lighting, HVAC, and cameras.

We provide tree clearing and site preparation, including grubbing after tree clearing, construction site tree clearing, and construction access tree clearing for commercial lots, driveways, access roads, and staging access. We’ve been part of site preparations for HOAs and apartment communities in West Ashley, James Island, and Daniel Island. A thorough site review precedes every job. In our opinion, below-grade stump grinding after land clearing works best for removing stumps and roots, with debris handling and tree debris haul-off.

As a company licensed through the SC Contractor’s Licensing Board, we specialize in tree debris removal, from storm debris cleanup and fallen tree cleanup to branch cleanup after tree removal. Our crews handle brush and branch haul-away, log sectioning, log removal, tree trunk haul-away, and brush chipping and haul-away, finishing every job with a final rake and blow. From multifamily communities to campuses, parking lots, and entrances, we leave your property clean, clear, and ready to use.
Charleston Tree Solutions has ISA Certified Arborists who have passed an exam covering tree biology, diagnosis, pruning, and safety, and they keep their certification current through continuing education. This helps guide decisions on whether a tree should be pruned, treated, or removed. It gives you a trained professional’s judgment rather than guesswork, though certification itself doesn’t guarantee an outcome
Our Certified Treecare Safety Professionals are trained in safe work practices for equipment handling, rigging, and working around homes and people. Our TCIA accreditation means our company has been reviewed against industry standards for safety, training, and business practices. Together, they help protect our crews, your family, and your property.
We’re licensed through the SC Contractor’s Licensing Board and hold pesticide credentials through Clemson’s Department of Pesticide Regulation. This means we’re recognized to operate legally in South Carolina and authorized to apply tree and shrub treatments according to state requirements and product labels. Treatments follow a proper diagnosis, and we don’t promise cures.
We carry general liability insurance, which helps cover accidental damage to your property, and workers’ compensation insurance, so you aren’t held responsible if a crew member is injured on your property. Our surety bond adds financial and contractual protection by demonstrating our commitment to fulfilling our project obligations. Together, they give you added protection and peace of mind.
Most tree service problems, like damaged lawns, roofs, and fences, ruined trees, and messy job sites, start before the saw does. Here’s what Charleston Tree Solutions does to prevent them and why each step matters to you.

We look at the tree’s lean, dead or hanging limbs, signs of decay, overhead lines, nearby structures, and ground conditions. Soggy soil after a storm can stop heavy equipment from working safely. Surprises cause most damage and delays, so knowing what’s there lets us pick the safest approach and tell you what to expect.

We mark the drop zone, protect your lawn, driveway, and landscaping where we can, and move vehicles and outdoor items out of the way. Digging jobs like stump removal need utility locates first. A well-prepared site protects your property and keeps our crew and everyone nearby safe.

We choose the right approach for the job, whether that’s climbing, rope rigging, a bucket truck, or a crane, and we time pruning and clearing to the tree’s needs and the site’s conditions rather than rushing. The wrong method or timing can harm the tree or damage your property. Pruning also affects a tree’s health for years, so we avoid shortcuts like topping.

Before we start, we agree with you on debris haul-away, chip handling, stump grinding, backfill, and how the site will be left. Clear expectations prevent the “now what do I do with this stump?” problem. Ground settles after grinding or excavation, so we explain what to expect.
Our Charleston Tree Solutions staff also check whether a permit may apply to your property, since City of Charleston rules differ from the county and surrounding towns. We stay clear of energized power lines, and we’ll tell you honestly when removal isn’t necessary.
Tree removal in Charleston typically costs about $270 to $1,200 for a standard residential tree, depending on the tree's size, condition, location, and the equipment the job requires. Your total cost depends on:
Stump grinding often runs about $60 to $430 per stump, and larger jobs with multiple trees or land clearing may be priced by the acre instead of per tree. We provide estimates within one to three days, based on the tree's size, access, and site conditions.
Before you pick up a saw, you have to know that tree rules in the Charleston area aren’t the same everywhere. The City of Charleston, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and unincorporated Charleston County each have their own ordinances, so what applies to a neighbor across the line may not apply to you.
Larger, mature trees are often the ones protected. The City of Charleston treats most trees 8 inches or wider as protected, with an exception for multi-stem crape myrtles. Trees 24 inches or wider, other than pines and sweetgums, count as protected grand trees. Charleston County uses the same 24-inch mark for grand trees and requires a removal permit. Cutting one without approval can cause costly problems later.
Not sure which rules cover you? A Charleston mailing address doesn’t always mean you’re inside city limits. Check your property’s jurisdiction through the county parcel map or by calling the local zoning office before work begins.
The permit step usually starts with a request. In the city, that means a tree inspection, and a permit is issued if the tree meets removal standards, which can include hazardous or diseased trees. The county uses a zoning permit application and a tree affidavit for protected and grand trees. Pruning rules can differ too, so ask before heavy cutting.
Our team can identify the species, measure the trunk, photograph the tree’s condition, and help gather what the application needs. Rules change, so confirm current requirements with your local office before cutting.

“A big limb came down on our roof during a storm, and I honestly didn’t know who to call. Charleston Tree Solutions had a crew out quickly, and they took the limb off the roof carefully, cleared our driveway, and raked up before they left. They explained every step, so I never felt in the dark.”
Homeowner, West Ashley

“Our parking lot trees were hanging over the sign and blocking the lights, and customers were noticing. The crew trimmed everything back without closing our entrance for long, and they hauled off every branch. It looks cleaner and safer, and no one had to work around them.”
Restaurant Owner, Daniel Island

“We had an overgrown common area that had been neglected for years. The crew cleared the brush, took out the small trees, and left the shade trees standing. They walked the property with me first so I knew exactly what would stay. Our residents have been thanking me ever since.”
HOA Board President, James Island
